Shelly Gossett
Shelly Gossett joined Crossroads staff in December 2009. Shelly has a degree in elementary education from Kansas State University. She began her teaching career in the inner city of San Antonio, Texas. During that time she worked for the state of Texas instructing teachers how to teach in their classrooms before staying home with her girls, Calah and Rayanna.
In 1993, Shelly, her husband Eric, and their girls moved to Salina, Kan., where their oldest daughter attended a private Christian preschool. Eric and Shelly greatly valued the Christian principles taught through education. So when the moved to Kansas City in 1997, God opened doors for Shelly to work with Genesis Christian Academy at ground level opening a private Christian school.
From 1997 to 2004, Shelly helped the school grow from an established preschool to a vibrant elementary school offering Christian education for students grades K-6.
While at Genesis, Shelly taught kindergarten, physical education and music. She also served as the school’s administrator and oversaw the teaching staff and curriculum.
When Shelly’s oldest daughter left for college, she was in persistent prayer about whether she should get back into public education full time or pursue ministry. To say the least, she’s thrilled how things have worked out.
